PINECENE. ART EXHIBITION
PINOCENO. Tras el rastro de un despojo, desde Alemania al Sur
May 7 – 21, 2026
Bardo Projektraum, Berlin
About the Exhibition
What does a tree remember? What histories are embedded in landscapes we take for granted?
PINOCENO is a research-based exhibition that traces the entanglements between colonialism, extractivism, and transnational histories through pine plantations in the southern territories of Argentina and Chile, in Wallmapu—the ancestral land of the Mapuche people.
The pine appears here as a living archive: both witness and intruder. Introduced as part of extractive economies, it becomes a tool to uncover processes of land appropriation, monoculture, and the transformation of ecosystems into industrial infrastructures.
Through an assemblage of texts, images, audio, video, and objects, the exhibition constructs a layered research archive that invites visitors to navigate unexpected but real connections across geographies and timelines.
At its core, the project raises urgent questions: How is Germany historically connected to Latin America through systems of power and exploitation? In what ways do these histories resonate in contemporary ecological crises, such as wildfires and agro-industrial expansion?
Rather than offering linear narratives, PINOCENO opens a space for critical reflection—on resistance, memory, and the possibility of reimagining our relationship with land and territory.
